Seperate But Equal

Well, apparently I was hiding under a rock yesterday and I missed the news, so I am a day behind.

I don't get it....did we learn nothing from segregation?

Well, apparently if a large enough group of people don't like something then that makes it okay right? Even if it takes away the right of other human beings? hm.

Despite what you may feel towards Gay people, I don't care if they make you wanna hurl....who are we to take legal rights away from them? And I don't want to hear about the sanctity of marriage blablabla, we "straight folk" have done a pretty good job destroying the sanctity of marriage on our own thank-you-very-much. And they aren't asking for the right to marry in a church, they are asking for the right to be declared "married" not "Partnered" under LAW, not God.

I encourage everyone to read this a case "back in the day" when black and whites couldn't marry because it threatened the "Sanctity of Marriage"

the ultimate decision came down from the courts:
"Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights" fundamental to our very existence and survival.... To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law."

Key Words: Basic Civil Rights....Fundamental Freedom...

Please replace the words "black" with "Gay" and the word "race" with "orientation"

is it really that difficult to see the similarities in the discrimination?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions about a group of people...remember? Its a right! But, if its hurting that group of people (by taking away fundamental rights)....is it right?
