Date Night in Maui

5/8/2009

Chad wanted to take me out on a date while we were in Maui and leave the girls home with Nana and Papa. We decided to go to this Famous Restaurant. I mean this place is worldwide famous and costs about a million bucks a plate, but we figured this is our only date on our only vacation of the year, so might as well make it count right?

So we made reservations and I was so excited.

(this is us before we left...this is my back yard...great place to grow up)

Well, my mom found out what restaurant we were going to and thought it was a horrible idea. She hates this particular restaurant and had other ideas for what would be "the perfect date" in her mind and demanded we take her advice. Now I know where my controlling tendencies come from :-)

Anyways, of course I fought her off. I swear even though I am very much a grown up, as soon as I step through my parents door, I morph back into a 16 year old rebellious teenager who wants to do the opposite of what her parents suggest.

But this time, my mom would not let it drop. Finally, about 1 hour before we were about to leave, she told us she would pay us $450 if we did NOT go to that restaurant and instead do what she wanted us to do...which was to go to one of HER favorite restaurants.

We had a great time on the date my mom planed (hey, money talks). Chad and I sat outside in front of the setting sun and drank margaritas while we talked peacefully, no toddler to entertain, no baby getting fussy. Chad looked especially handsome and swooned me just like the good ol days. Honestly, we could have been enjoying Chicken Mc Nuggets from McDs and it would have felt like just as much of a treat, because I was spending it with the man I love.

Too bad we had to go back and share a room with the girls...would have been the perfect ending to a perfect evening (winkwink)*

Anyways, it was the perfect date night, of date nights that are few and far between and we walked away $400 richer**

* TMI?
** I suspect that she already planned to give us the $450, and my little sister confirmed that to me the next day...oh well.

That's a great pic of you guys. Do you look so happy because you had already gotten the money? ;)

The picture is totally frameable. I am glad you enjoyed your date night, even if it didn't include a "nightcap" ;)
