Vampire Love...

I have never been one to "get into" something...like obsess or really be a major "Fan" of anything.

I dont follow sports.
Occasionally I will find a TV show that captures my interest, but never anything I watch religiously.
There is no brand I am partial to (my girl friend is like obsessed with Juicy) stuff like that has never been something I get into
okay, I admit I love me a rum and diet coke (R&C), thats about the only thing I have loved for years, but I am not OBSESSED with them, I am happy with a margarita, or a glass of wine, or mojito or something

my point?

Well, in the last few months, I have become completely obsessed with vampire love stories....I feel a little weird admitting this, but if I pretend its not true, I am only lieing to myself

First it was twilight.

I read all the books in a very short amount of time, then I re-read the first one and listened to the 2nd two via audio book on my ipod while I worked out.

I own the movie, the movie is on my ipod, I have the soundtrack, I susbscribe to the website about the next movie, I can tell you whatever you want to know about its production, etc etc etc

then, a girl friend from my work suggested the Sookie Stackhouse series....okay, I didn't think that there was anything that I would love as much as Twilight, but reading stops me from boredom eating so I decided to check it out: I was wrong.

yes thats right I am totally into this series, I read everynight, one night I had a R&C while reading and I dreamed about reading the book......

Its really like twilight (vampire&human love) but written for adults rather than teen girls. It was actually written before twilight, so its not a knock-off, which I was happy about.

Chad and I rented the 1st season and the show is totally awesome. Its VERY VERY racey, so don't watch it with your 12 year old niece or anything like that, but I recomend it. the next season starts on HBO soon, I SO wish I had that channel...I dont want to wait for DVD.

anyways, so there you go universe. I admit, I am obsessed with these stories...will I ever be the same again? I am not sure. At least its helping my waistline.....I seriously eat alot less when I read, so I have been missing out on alot of needless calories. right?

I wear my sunglasses at night

this is what I found Brynn and Audrey up to first thing this morning. Brynn had found 2 pairs of sunglasses and decided to put a pair on herself and her lil-sis.

I love this next picture. They love each other so much already, and laugh and giggle even though they dont yet speak to each other. (what do you think of my Orton Effect on this one???

As a side note: here is Brynns death stare first thing in the morning. From the moment she gets up for the first 30 minutes or so, she treats you like you just killed her cat or something and gives you this evil stare, and if you talk to her, she will rip you a new one....toddlers are so fun arent they???

Audrey 7 Months

Here we are at 7 months old!

Audrey continues to grow and learn and develop her own little personality. One thing that people always mention when they meet my sweet Audrey is just how independent she is. You could plop her on the floor and she will cruise for hours not really needing anything from you until she is hungry or tired. She has become quite an independent little one.

Food wise, she loves Avocados, Sweet Potato, bananas I would say those are her favorites. I think I might buy some finger foods (like those Gerber puffs) soon to see if she is ready, we will see.

Milestone wise:
She is still a power scooter. The other day she scooted from Brynns room into the bathroom and all the way into the shower room before I realized she was not where I left her...oops.

She has discovered Dakota (Our Jack Russel Terrier) this month and chases him all around the living room to grab onto some fur. Thank gosh Dakota is such a mild dog because he doesn't even flinch when she grips onto that hair. Poor guy!

I would say she will be crawling in the coming weeks. She spends most of her time on her hands and knees try to crawl forward. She will even do the crawling motion like with her feet, but she doesn't do anything with her hands so she doesn't actually get anywhere LOL! Soon enough, better watch out Dakota!

She got her FIRST TOOTH! Actually it was the day after she turned 7 months but close enough right? It was funny because we had just walked in the door at my friend Kellys house when Audrey took a bit on my finger and I noticed a ridge that had broke through.
No wonder she has been sleeping so crappy at night...
I am gonna miss that gummy smile!

in her 7th month, we traveled to Maui and she had her first dip in the Pacific ocean. She was pretty impartial about it, but the pool...she LOVED the pool. We brought her to the pool at my moms country club and she just cruised and splashed and tried to drink it all up.

Audreys got some new accessories this past month, we pierced her ears while on the trip just like we did with Brynn. Audrey cried like one little yelp and that was it. It was so fast, thank god, I had so much anxiety about it (I have a fear of needles).
She just got some teeny tiny diamonds set in gold, you can't really see it unless you are up close. Her little bling is really cute (if I do say so myself)

Seperate But Equal

Well, apparently I was hiding under a rock yesterday and I missed the news, so I am a day behind.

I don't get it....did we learn nothing from segregation?

Well, apparently if a large enough group of people don't like something then that makes it okay right? Even if it takes away the right of other human beings? hm.

Despite what you may feel towards Gay people, I don't care if they make you wanna hurl....who are we to take legal rights away from them? And I don't want to hear about the sanctity of marriage blablabla, we "straight folk" have done a pretty good job destroying the sanctity of marriage on our own thank-you-very-much. And they aren't asking for the right to marry in a church, they are asking for the right to be declared "married" not "Partnered" under LAW, not God.

I encourage everyone to read this a case "back in the day" when black and whites couldn't marry because it threatened the "Sanctity of Marriage"

the ultimate decision came down from the courts:
"Marriage is one of the "basic civil rights" fundamental to our very existence and survival.... To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State's citizens of liberty without due process of law."

Key Words: Basic Civil Rights....Fundamental Freedom...

Please replace the words "black" with "Gay" and the word "race" with "orientation"

is it really that difficult to see the similarities in the discrimination?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions about a group of people...remember? Its a right! But, if its hurting that group of people (by taking away fundamental rights)....is it right?

Saying goodbye...

I have debated about whether or not I want to talk about this here...but ultimately I have decided its a good thing to talk about...almost therapeutic.....I think, I hope.

My dad passed away last year August 8th, 2008.....8-8-8...of course a day that will now echo in my head forever. Although we were estranged, he always held a special place in my heart. He was my dad, my super hero with super human strength for the first 10 years of my life....until reality hit us like a freight train.

I wont go any further than that...but just know that I loved my dad, he created me, he partially raised me, and I know that he loved his girls and it broke his heart (and mine) that life didn't end up the way that it should have but the powers of his illness of addiction were too much for him to........not sure how to say it....I guess the evil of his addiction took him long before his heart stopped.

Damn, I told myself I wouldn't cry.

My sisters and I got a portion of his ashes. My dad was a Big surfer back in the day, he won contests and everything....so naturally, it was his wish to have the warm ocean as his final resting place. So it was decided that when we came to visit Maui, that we would spread his ashes together as his girls.

I fought this idea like no other....I wanted nothing more than for my sisters to just do it on there own and not even tell me about it....I guess for me, its easier to just pretend like it isn't there, like nothing happened. I wasn't allowing myself to experience the full sadness of his loss, a defense mechanism....But, I knew that it would mean so much to him if we all did it together as his girls...one last tribute to our dad. So I went along with it.

When we got to Maui, anxiety kicked in, all of the memories, that I fought so hard to put away, ignore, came rushing back as I traveled through my home town. Memories of my dad were everywhere. His favorite beach, where my sisters and I played for days while our parents surfed. The home where I grew up, and my mom still lives, that my dad did total renovations on...even the hole in the ceiling in the closet when my dad was working in the attic and his foot fell through was still there. A beach cliff he used to take us to and we would watch the waves for hours and my sisters and I would get so damn bored. My elementary school, remembering when my dad would pick us up and he had this funny way he would toss his keys in the air and catch them behind his back like a neat trick. Memories were everywhere....haunting me. Its so easy when I am in the mainland, there are no landmarks to remind me, no memories here tied to my dad....being in Maui forced me to realize that he is really gone.

We woke up early in the morning on May 4th and headed out to the beach...naturally, spreading ones ashes is not something you do mid day in front of hundreds of tourists. We went to this quiet, private beach. It was perfect. There was a small cliff we could climb up on over the water. We (my sisters, our husbands and kids) all went out to the edge of the rocky cliff each of us with a flower in hand. My sister Kelly said a few words, and we dumped his ashes into the ocean. We each threw our flower into the water after the ashes...my sister Johanna also threw a lei in the water.

We climbed back off the cliff and sat on the sand and watched in silence as the flowers drifted slowly out to sea as the sun rose higher in the morning sky. It was at that moment, I felt completely at peace for the first time since August, I didn't even realize I had not felt at peace, until I truly experienced the peace that comes with that final good bye. I could almost feel his soul resting...I know that sounds crazy. But its hard to explain.

anyways, I know this is a weird post...I am sure about 10 of you are deleting me from your reading lists right now because I have totally weirded you out with my depressing post. But I feel better typing about it, and maybe in a couple days, I will realize that I opened myself up too much and delete this...I don't know...just had to share I guess. Its weird losing a parent. Its heartbreaking. But, I have found peace in my heart and my mind and I think that's a good thing...

Brynns Latest

I don't think that I do enough updates on my Brynni Brynn. Its just that her advances are very subtle that its hard to really take notice because they are not physical milestone...so its not like all of a sudden she is quoting Shakespeare (sp?)

What can I say about Brynn. She is your typical toddler. She is a blast most of the time, and also very difficult a lot of the time as well.

Let see. She has slipped into her big sister roll nice and easily. She has started "Telling" on her...The other day we were in the living room and she came up to me and said

"Uh, Oh! MOMMY, Lookit: Audrey playing TV...No, Audrey No!"

Audrey had skooted over to the TV stand and started chewing on cords...I know...bad mommy for not catching it before Brynn.

But she also has her sweet big sis moment, today, I was holding Audrey and Brynn instructed me to put Audrey down so that Brynn could play with her. She said:

"Mommy, Audrey...put down." then she pointed at a place on the carpet "Here Mommy, Here" I followed orders and Brynn and Audrey laughed and giggled with each other.

makes it all worth it.

Also as you can see from my update...her vocabulary continues to improve exponentially...there are rarely times we can't comprehend what she is telling us, although we are her parents. I am not sure everyone would read her as clearly.

She loves to draw, loves to *write* she requests "Mommy, write, name"
She will tell you what her name is.
She talks on the phone...like actual back and forth conversation (small talk)...which makes my mom happy!
She is a picky eater at dinner...constant battle.

Oh, I almost forgot! She is FINALLY done with the bottle! Woot Woot! Even though it was only down to 2 a day....she just wouldn't let those wake-up bottles....I never thought she would give it up. It just took a week in Maui with no bottles to break the habit. And since we don't give Audrey bottles at home...we are bottle free at home! I seriously do not miss washing bottles. SWEET!!

Brynn is also going through a shy phase. If we go to a place with other kids, even if she has basically grown up with the kids, she takes a while to warm up to go off and play with other kids. So she is a little Opihi for like 30-45 minutes until she decides she wants to be social.

The funny thing is is she doesn't have this problem at school. From what I have seen, she is incredibly social at school and as soon as we drop her off, she runs off to play with other kids, and when we pick her up, we nearly have to drag her away.

Just a little shy phase.

Audreys Latest

This is Audreys latest trick:

No silly...not just looking cute! thats just a bonus picture ;-)

She has started getting up onto all fours!

Sometimes she will just hang out on her hands and toes:

Other times, she will hang out on her hand and knees.....its not too much longer before I have a crawler in the house!

Hi-lar-ious

This weekend, my girlfriend and I left our 4 youngons home with our husbands and went out for dinner....and by dinner, I mean alot of alcohol with a side of tortilla chips.

I seriously havent drank like that since my pre-baby days, we started off splitting a pitcher of Margaritas, and continued from there. Needless to say, we walked home, and it was simply a blast!

Unfortunatly, the alcohol wore off at 1am, which, a weird thing about me is when the alcohol wears of, I wake up and cant go back to sleep, so I have been up since one AM...oh well, I watched like 4 episodes of True Blood from HBO, I am currently reading the books, and the show is awesome!

The British are coming!

On our last night in Maui...my mom...in her usual fashion, decided that my kids didn't actually *need* sleep the night before they leave on a 8 hour (that turned into like 10 hour) trip home. No, she decided to have a bunch of friends over.

One of my moms friends is from England. (BTW: I am totally speaking with a British accent in my mind as I type this...lol!) And her daughter and the daughters friend came over. They were about 23 and were super nice. I seriously sat with them and talked to them for the longest time.

See, I have never really been outside the US. I mean, you cant count Tijuana (sp?). Everyone always told me to travel and have fun *before* I had kids...but of course I didn't listen...I had other plans for my ovaries at the time. And I don't regret it one bit...but now I see why you cant really travel the world with 2 small children in tow:

1) Its incredibly expensive
2) Its incredibly stressful...no actual relaxing taking place during said vacation
3) You can't really go out and get piss drunk and come home and pass out (which whats a vacation with out that?)

So these girls where so nice and put up with all my questions about what its like to live in London, what fun things there is to do there, I was seriously THIS close to asking them if they know Robert Pattinson or Jason Stathom, and if so, could they please introduce me sometime...but then I realized how utterly absurd that is and I refrained myself. Usually as it goes, once I start talking about them, I cant stop.

I digress (big deep breath as I push the two British men out of my mind)

So now I totally want to visit London. Maybe in a couple years, when the girls are older I will gather enough strength and leave them with my In-Laws (Another Big Deep Breath for other reasons *wink*) so Chad and I can go to England. We will see.

I was actually kind of glad that my mom had all those people over (although they seriously drank too much wine and got really loud and kept my girls up to horrible hours) because I didn't want to sit around and think about leaving my family behind. It will prob be a year or more before I see them again. and it makes me sad to see how much of their lives I miss because I am so far away.

Twins.

Its interesting to be a twin. Since we live so far away from each other, its almost like you forget that you have someone with matching DNA in the world with you.

In my mind, Kelly is just a sister...a sister who is extremely close in age to me.

It isnt until we are in the same town that we realize that we look alike I guess. Of course in our minds, we couldn't look any more different, but to the outside world, I guess we look alot more alike than we realize.

On our most recent trip we had a few twin trip ups.

Brynn dislocated her elbow (FOR THE THIRD TIME!) so we had to rush down to the Drs office to get it popped back in. While we were walking ino the Drs office, there was this big Hawaiian Lady with a broken leg staring at us. I figured that it was because we were so white, almost glowing in the bright sun. Until she said "Hi Kelly!"

"Oh no, I am just her twin sister"
"I didn't know she had a twin!"

So funny. She must have been thinking "Who is that guy she is walking with and what happened to Enoka and Elias? (My sisters Husband and son, who are part Hawaiian, and obviously not as white as my Haole Family)

I told me sister about it, and she didn't know who the woman was, until a couple days later, one of her "Clients" (AKA: Parolee -- she is a Parole Officer) came and mentioned she had met her twin

Another time, Chad and I were at our romantic dinner, and the waitress was taking our order, and was looking at me with narrowed eyes....as if she was thinking very carefully, I thought she was trying to size me up if I was really 21 or not (Hey, a girl can dream cant she?)

"Do you want that blended or on the rocks -KELLY?"

This particular waitress used to work with Kelly back in the day at another restaurant.

So funny, later in the trip Kelly and I got to talking about all the funny times that people mistook us.

Kelly told me about a time she was living in Oregon, and driving down the freeway and this guy was in the next lane keeping speed with her and just STARING at her. She said she was all freaked out that he was some murderer rapist. Until finally he yelled from across the freeway "KRISTIN???" --- that's when she realized he was trying to figure out what the hell i was doing in Oregon.

She said she pulled over and talked to him awhile and explained she was my twin sister. It was my good friend at the time (this is before chad)....but I am still not sure she should have pulled over for some random dude like that...but it turned out fine.

Another time, my sister was in line for a Club in Maui, this is probably my most favorite story.

She was standing in line with her friends and she said some guy just came up to her and kissed her right on the mouth. She totally push him off of her, but then realized it was one of my "Stoner Friends" (her words, not mine) from High School and he thought she was Kristin......
Um, let me just say that that would have been a weird occurrence even if it WERE me standing there...I know this guy, he must have been WAY out of it to have guts like that.

too funny. I love being a twin! good times.

$50 Luggage Tags

One of the things I looked forward to most on my trip was taking Brynn to the Maui Ocean Center...basically the most awesome aquarium ever. Seriously.

We put it off until our last day on the island, and as usual the one thing I looked forward to most was a total disaster.

Brynn was talking about it the whole way in the car "Fish, go see fish!" But as soon as we walked in, she totally lost it.

All you could hear was:
"No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!"

echoing through the halls. It was horrible. I dont know what her deal was. it was a total night mare. Audrey was completely amazed by all the fish and the colors and everthing...I suspect had the drama queen not been there, Audrey and I could have spent hours watching the fish.

Seriously this place was amazing, they have an underwater tunnel to walk through you can see fish everywhere, and turtles and sharks, everything you could possible imagine right there in front of you, but all I could hear was

"No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!"

"No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!"

"No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!" "No Daddy NO!"

At the end of it all (which we rushed through in about 20 mintues), we got a "Free Gift" of luggage tags in the shape of a turtle. Great. So I have the most exensive luggage tags ever to remind me of the great aquarium trip.

Date Night in Maui

5/8/2009

Chad wanted to take me out on a date while we were in Maui and leave the girls home with Nana and Papa. We decided to go to this Famous Restaurant. I mean this place is worldwide famous and costs about a million bucks a plate, but we figured this is our only date on our only vacation of the year, so might as well make it count right?

So we made reservations and I was so excited.

(this is us before we left...this is my back yard...great place to grow up)

Well, my mom found out what restaurant we were going to and thought it was a horrible idea. She hates this particular restaurant and had other ideas for what would be "the perfect date" in her mind and demanded we take her advice. Now I know where my controlling tendencies come from :-)

Anyways, of course I fought her off. I swear even though I am very much a grown up, as soon as I step through my parents door, I morph back into a 16 year old rebellious teenager who wants to do the opposite of what her parents suggest.

But this time, my mom would not let it drop. Finally, about 1 hour before we were about to leave, she told us she would pay us $450 if we did NOT go to that restaurant and instead do what she wanted us to do...which was to go to one of HER favorite restaurants.

We had a great time on the date my mom planed (hey, money talks). Chad and I sat outside in front of the setting sun and drank margaritas while we talked peacefully, no toddler to entertain, no baby getting fussy. Chad looked especially handsome and swooned me just like the good ol days. Honestly, we could have been enjoying Chicken Mc Nuggets from McDs and it would have felt like just as much of a treat, because I was spending it with the man I love.

Too bad we had to go back and share a room with the girls...would have been the perfect ending to a perfect evening (winkwink)*

Anyways, it was the perfect date night, of date nights that are few and far between and we walked away $400 richer**

* TMI?
** I suspect that she already planned to give us the $450, and my little sister confirmed that to me the next day...oh well.

Sistahs

While packing for our trip, I decided to use an older diaper bag I had. As I was going through it I found all kinds of memorabilia from Brynns teeny baby days. An old name tag from Brynns first Mommy and Me class (5 weeks old), old pacis, size 2 diapers, and endless Dr Office paperwork.

You know how each Drs visits you come home with a bunch of paperwork? Like your receipt (ours is like 3 letter size pages big), and usually a document with the current visits stats and milestone information.

Well, in the bag was Brynns 6 month well baby check sheet. I remembered that I had Audreys in my other diaper bad and grabbed it to compare.

Once again the differences in my babies is Minute (Minoot? Miniut)...someone help me with that word please....

Brynn: 17lbs, 11oz -- 25.2 inches
Audrey: 17lbs, 9 oz -- 26.2 inches

Pretty neat huh? Despite the fact that they where nearly 2.5lbs different at birth (Brynn: 7lbs, Audrey: 9lbs7oz) they are (where?) practically the same size at 6 months old....pretty neat.

Spring Show

**okay, I am back from vacation. We didnt get home until well after midnight last night, and I woke at 5am this morning...naturally. I am going to start where I left off in April and slowly work my way up.**

*******

April 30th 2009

This evening, Brynn completed an important right of passage: her first school performance!

I was looking forward to this evening from the moment I saw "Spring Show" on her calendar at school.

Its really neat because you get to see all the classmates together, these are kids that most likely Brynn will grow up with and end up going to elementary school, high school, etc together. Its just neat to think about....yeah, I am sappy like that.

They do a great job, the school puts together a huge spaggetti dinner and then each class performs for all the parents. Of course, Brynn was in a Drama Queen mood the entire time, clinging to her dad for dear life, but suprisingly, when it was her classes turn, she recognized what was going up and got up in front of everyone to perform*

*Performing for Brynn consists of the teacher performing and every once in awhile she would shout out one of the words in the song, and some of the bigger, exadurated motions

Aloha Oe

Our Maui Vacation is winding down...its drizzling today, but chad still wanted to go to the beach, I think I will stay home and do laundry.

We are having a blast!

Brynn has really fallen in love with her "Maui Family" which makes me happy to hear that she knows who her Nana and Papa are because she really only sees them about once a year.

Its funny because she thinks that she has two mommys now because she calls my Twin sister Kelly mommy. And will even refer to her as "That Mommy" very cute. My sisters son Elias, could really care less about me. Eh, what are you gonna do.

Yesterday I had my most embarrassing moment of my life. I was wearing a Tankini bathing suit top and a shirt on top of it. We were at the beach and I went to go remove my shirt and accidentally grabbed my tankini underneath it and quickly pulled up to remove my shirt and my tankini top came up with it...so it looked like I was flashing my Nini to everyone on the beach, New Orleans style...I wanted to run and hide...

Chad was cracking up about it...he is seriously still 17 I swear. I asked him if anyone saw, and that was the point he could have chosen to save me some sanity by lieing and telling me "Why no honey, no one saw" but instead, he chose this moment to tell me the 100% truth that yes, in fact I did show my Tiggo Bitties to everyone on the beach.....GREAT! My stomach is churning just thinking about it....ugh.

Moving along.

I am just really enjoying myself. I feel relaxed. The girls are sleeping quite well. Not by standards from home, but well for everyone in the same room 3 hours off "Schedule"...which means I am still exhausted, but its worth it.

I will try to post more pics when I get back the internet is SO SLOW its takes about 10 minutes for one picture and I am using my parents computer, and they are work-aholics, so they just dont know what to do with them selves if they dont have their computer in their laps...ya know?

until next time! ALOHA!

Back to the realworld!

Well, not quite...still on vacation.

But I finished the 4th book of the Twilight series. SO far, I am handling the end of my crack supply fairly well, but how much of that has to do with the fact that I am in Maui, I am not sure.

But, I am done and I have to admit I am glad its over to that I can now get back to paying attention to my children, my other life joys like photography, my husband, eating, etc etc.
