Moving...step 1: the purge

We are moving! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

We have been house hunting since MAY, and despite everyone on the news telling you the housing market is crap...it really isn't...at least in our area.

The house that we are currently in escrow on was on the market for 1 week...there were 38 offers and OURS was the best! wootwoot! I cannot tell you how happy it was to see the status on the online listing change from "active" to "contingent" ---ITS MINE!

We close in two weeks, a very very short escrow. Which is great! I want to get a move on and get in my house!

In case you haven't noticed...I am Type A...yes, its true...every cell in my body is Type A. As a matter of fact right now my split ends are telling me get off my arse and get to work....

Type A as defined by Wikipedia:

"Type A individuals can be described as impatient, time-conscious, concerned about their status, highly competitive, ambitious, business-like, aggressive, having difficulty relaxing; and are sometimes disliked by individuals with Type B personalties for the way that they're always rushing. [1] They are often high-achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about delays. Because of these characteristics, Type A individuals are often described as "stress junkies." "

SO, being Type A, big projects hold a special place in my heart...and what bigger project then moving your entire household full of crap? anyways, I am totally anxious about this and need a plan...and need to map out my plan...and since I have already talked chads head off...he is at work this Saturday morning, he said that he needed to wrap some stuff up...i suspect he is just trying to escape my "planning the move" talk.

So I will share it here:

Step 1: Purge
Today, I will head off in my house with two garbage bags in hand. One for trash, one for sale/donation. And in the spirit of FlyLady I will purge my house of everything I do not need. I expect to fill at least one garbage bag of each for each room.

I will be relentless in my purge...if I do not absolutely love it its gone....if I even hesitate that *maybe* someday I will need it/use it...its gone! Renegade style!

Step 2: Pack
the first step in packing is to determine what you are going to need in the next two weeks:
- clothes for two weeks
- linens for two weeks
- dishes for two weeks
- toys for two weeks

I will determine which clothes, linens, dishes, toys stay out and list it out (Type A's LOVE LISTS! gigidy gigidy gigidy I love lists!) and then everything else gets packed in this order:

Wine (you may laugh, but we have about 100+ cases of wine, some in racks, some not...)
Clothes
Linens
Books/DVDs
Pictures
Computer stuff
Dishes and other kitchen items
Toys

Step 3: Move

Chad wants to move slowly...like one room at a time...but since we have to find a place for the girls when we move, I would say we need to just move all at once and then once we get a play room set up at the new place we can unpack.

I noticed you left your camera off the pack list. Good girl! :-) I love lists too! Sometimes I think I like to make them more than I like to actually use them.

Have fun and good luck! I agree with pp--I love lists, sometimes I like to make them just for the sake of making them. :)

when you say cases of wine do you mean like 12 bottles per case meaning 1200 bottles of wine???
